# Add New Instrument

**Navigation:** Instruments → Add New Instrument

1. Enter **Instrument Name**.
2. Enter identifiers: 
     - Model Number (optional)
     - Serial Number
3. Select or add: 
     - Manufacturer (add new if missing)
     - Device Type (add new if missing; e.g., analyzer, centrifuge, freezer)
4. Select **the department** the instrument belongs to.
5. Enter **In-Use Date** (date instrument was placed in service)- optional
6. Add **Notes/Comments** (optional).
7. Upload **Instrument Image** (optional but recommended).
8. Select **Create Instrument**.

**Expected Outcome:** Instrument is available for log association and filtering.
