# Aliquots

The **Aliquot Creation** feature in allows users to create and track aliquots from an existing inventory item when the aliquot option is enabled in item data management. When aliquots are created, the system generates a separate batch ID for each aliquot set, enabling independent tracking. Users can record the number of aliquots created, the date they were prepared, and the stability or expiration date for those aliquots. This ensures proper traceability, accurate tracking of derived materials, and better management of aliquoted inventory.

1. Enable Aliquot Feature 
     - Go to **Data Management**.
     - When creating or editing an item, locate the question:  
       *“Does this item need aliquots?”*
     - Select **Yes** to enable aliquot creation for that item.
     - Save the item details
2. Locate the Item 
     - Go to the **Inventory Table**.
     - Search for and select the item that requires aliquots.
     - Click the **three dots (action menu)** next to the item.
     - Select **Prepare Aliquots**.
3. Enter Aliquot Details 
     - In the aliquot preparation form, enter the following details: 
           - **Volume or Mass per Aliquot** (depending on unit of measurement).
           - **Number of Aliquots** to be prepared.
           - **Stable Until Date** (if applicable).
     - Review the information and click **Save**.
4. System Update 
     - The system will automatically deduct the total volume/mass used for aliquots from the **original item stock**.
     - A **new batch of aliquots** will be created in the system.
     - If another batch of aliquots is required, repeat steps.
5. Print Aliquot Labels 
     - Locate the **aliquot batch** you created.
     - Click the **three dots (action menu)** next to the batch.
     - Select **Print Label** to generate and print aliquot labels.
