Mobile Scanning Guide
This guide explains how to use your mobile phone to scan supply items during check-in and check-out in Lab Symplified. You can connect your phone to a desktop session via QR code, or log in directly from your phone's browser.
The Check-In and Check-Out screens are fully optimized for mobile. All other areas of the application are best used on a desktop, laptop, or tablet.
Method 1: Connect Your Phone via QR Code
Use this method when you are already logged in on your computer and want to scan items from your phone without signing in again.
Step 1 — Open the Check-In Page on Your Computer
- Log in to Lab Symplified on your computer.Open your browser, navigate to the application, and sign in with your credentials.
- Go to the Check-In page.Select Check-In from the main navigation menu.
- Click the Open in Mobile button.This button is located in the top-right corner of the Check-In page. A QR code will appear on the screen.
Step 2 — Connect Your Phone
- Open the camera app on your phone.Use your phone's default camera — no additional app is required.
- Point the camera at the QR code on your screen.Hold steady for a moment. A notification or link will appear on your phone.
- Tap the link to open the Check-In app.Your phone browser will open the mobile-optimized Check-In view, already connected to your session.
Step 3 — Scan Your Items
- Tap the Camera Scan button.This is the camera icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Allow camera access when prompted.Tap Allow so the app can use your phone's camera to scan barcodes.
- Scan the first item.Point the camera at the item's barcode. The app will automatically capture details such as item name, lot number, expiration date, and received date if available in the barcode.
Each scan counts as one (1) unit by default. Adjust the quantity using the steps below if you are receiving more than one unit.
Step 4 — Add More Items or Adjust Quantity
- To scan an additional unit, Tap Add and Scan Next.This saves the current scan and opens the camera for the next item.
- If the next item scanned is the same, the quantity updates automatically.For example, scanning the same box twice will change the quantity from 1 to 2.
- If the next item is different, its details are pulled in separately.Each unique item is tracked individually with its own details and quantity.
Step 5 — Complete the Check-In
- When all items are scanned, tap Complete Check-In.A confirmation prompt will appear.
- Confirm to finalize the check-in.Your items are now recorded as checked in.
- Verify in the inventory by refreshing the check-in page or the inventory page. Recently checked-in items appear at the bottom of the Check-In screen. The newly checked-in items will now appear in the inventory with updated quantities and details.
Use this method if you do not have a computer session open, or if you prefer to work entirely from your phone.
- Open your phone's browser.Use Safari, Chrome, or your preferred mobile browser.
- Navigate to the Lab Symplified application URL.Enter the address in your browser's address bar.
- Log in with your credentials.Enter your username and password to sign in.
- Go to the Check-In or Check-Out screen.The view is optimized for mobile and works the same way as described in Method 1 (Steps 3–6 above).
: From your phone, only the Check-In and Check-Out screens are mobile-optimized. Other parts of the application (reports, settings, inventory table, etc.) are best accessed on a desktop, laptop, or tablet.
