# Viewing, editing, and finding users

## Check what a user can do, change their access, and filter the Users list

Open any user to see exactly what they can do, or edit their labs, roles, and permissions from the same screen you used to add them.

*Requires the View User or Edit User permission, both included in the Enterprise Admin role.*

### View a user

1. Open the **Users** list and select **View** from 3 dots on the person's row.
2. You'll see their details and an access summary: the roles or permissions they have at each lab, plus any company-wide admin access.

### Edit a user

Use this to change someone's labs (for example, when they move to another lab), roles, or permissions.

1. Select **Edit** from 3 dots on the person's row.
2. The Edit User screen opens with their current setup filled in.
3. Change their labs, roles, or permissions.
4. Review the **Effective access** summary and select **Save changes**.

**Moving a user from custom permissions to roles:** edit the user and assign roles in Step 4.

**Changing many people at once?** If they share a role, edit the role instead. Everyone with that role updates automatically. See [Managing roles](https://help.labsymplified.com/manage-roles?hsLang=en).

### Find users quickly

Use the filters at the top of the Users list to narrow by  **lab**, or **role**, or search by name or email.

**Tip:** Filter by role before editing a role to see who will be affected.
